ABOUT ANNA

divtop_img anna_200x_img

Quiet and contemplative, Anna’s work invites the viewer to pause and take a step back from the speed and over stimulation of current times.

She is interested in the transformative potential of art and a state of ‘becoming’ rather than definitive statements. Her sculptures are diverse and multi layered, developed through a ‘thoughtful spontaneity’ with a minimalist aesthetic. The work investigates space, absence and presence and aims to transcend pure materiality to be open for individual interpretations and associations.

With a background in Silversmithing and Jewellery making, process and attention to detail play an important role in Anna’s artistic practice.

The process of cutting serves as a tool for crossing boundaries from the material to the immaterial; from the purely aesthetic exploration of form to the notion of reaching personal freedom through creative engagement.

Anna’s work is contextually inspired by Joseph Beuys’ comprehensive idea of art and his vision of ‘art as the science of freedom’.

The belief that human beings have an inherent creative potential places full responsibility with the individual but holds the key to personal transformation.
